Frieze Abu Dhabi 2026
NEW HUMANISM
For the inaugural edition of Frieze Abu Dhabi, Le Violon Bleu Gallery is delighted to present “New Humanism” a curated presentation showcasing a groundbreaking dialogue between five foundational North African masters. The presentation explores how traditional Maghreb identity, folk memory, and tactile materiality converge with radical visual abstraction, establishing a modern humanistic vision rooted in the region’s rich cultural heritage.
New Humanism reclaims the human experience from the perspective of North African modernism. Rather than adopting Western modes of formal abstraction wholesale, the featured artists ground their practice in local vernaculars ancestral symbols, tactile organic mediums, nomadic folklore, and raw gestural expression.
The booth constructs an architectural and visual dialogue that bridges the Maghreb’s
civilizational depth with mid-to-late 20th-century global modernism.
From raw, organic skin and copper to imposing forged bronze sculptures, vibrant equestrian folklore, and uninhibited painterly gestures, New Humanism presents North Africa not as a peripheral art scene, but as a dynamic engine of modernist philosophy and visual innovation.
