Art Basel Miami Brach

This curatorial project brings together two iconic figures of Maghreb modernism: Baya and Aly Ben Salem. Through a selection of works that defy the traditional boundaries between "popular" and "scholarly" art, the exhibition explores painting as an act of liberation and a manifestation of vital energy. While Baya  offers immersive, almost hallucinatory visions of emancipation and nature, Ben Salem transfigures the real into a serene, magnetic interiority driven by the search for eternal love. Together, these "Alchemists of the dream" reveal a modernism where the intimate meets the universal, offering a pictorial balm that celebrates life, joy, and the creative spirit’s ability to forge a world of infinite beauty.
